In 2008 Marvin Dunson began to think about using the family farm to produce wines. The family farm, at the base of beautiful Currahee Mountain, had once been an apple orchard owned by Marvin's parents. By 2009 planting had begun that would ultimately lead to award winning wines.
Our award winning, hand-crafted wines are the perfect accompaniment to any occasion. They've even been known to make more than a few occasions into unforgettable memories. With all of the awards and distinctions that Currahee Vineyard has garnered over the years, there was one honor Dunson never expected. In 2018 he was contacted by the U.S. Navy to participate in a commemorative service for Medal of Honor recipient Michael A. Monsoor. For this event the Navy requested that Dunson create a sparkling wine to be used in a ceremony for the commissioning of the USS Michael Monsoor (DDG-1001), a Zumwalt-class guided-missile destroyer.
The wine tastings are not the only thing they offer. Each Sunday between 2:30 and 5:30, you can listen to local, live music. Enjoy a good conversation and take in the scenery as you listen to some great music with your family.

When it comes to staying fit, there are multiple options at Currahee Club. The 5-acre Sports Complex features a fully equipped Wellness Center with state-of-the-art workout machines, fitness classes and personal training. There is a saltwater pool for water exercises or swimming. It also provides the perfect place to simply relax at one of the patios while sipping wine at the fire pits with neighbors catching up with the days events. For tennis buffs, there are two lit courts, along with bocce ball, volley ball and basketball courts for engaging in socially active interplay.
Stephens County's first local farm winery opens its doors for business.We are a locally own small town vineyard located in the peaceful mountains of Northeast Georgia. We have a variety of muscadines including both red and white.Currahee Vineyard and Winery held a Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting in April 2012 to celebrate its opening.Owner Marvin Dunson said he and his family including daughter Ashley have worked on this since 2008 and are now ready to produce and sell wine from the winery and its tasting room.We have a tasting room, said Dunson. For the time being, it is going to be here in front of a beautiful mountain so that a person can come out and relax. It is going to be low-key where people can enjoy themselves. That was our dream to build this place for that. We are very proud to be a part of Toccoa and Stephens County.The tasting room is open from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.Currahee Vineyard and Winery is located on West Currahee Street near the Jeanette Jamieson Intersection.
Northeast Georgia is the hotbed for fairs and festivals in Georgia and Stephens County is no exception. Our beautiful natural scenery, our historic Toccoa downtown, our vibrant and active Mainstreet Toccoa organization and hundreds of volunteers work together to present some of the best events anywhere in the mountains.
The spring event Toast of Toccoa features more than 50 artisans from the Currahee Artists Guild and other regional arts organizations displaying their artwork in separate booths enhanced by live music, craft beer, regional wine tastings and local food. The event is scheduled the first Saturday in May from noon until 5 p.m. in Historic Downtown Toccoa.
